MEDICAL /LEGAL GUIDELINES IN INDIA:

Medical Visa Situation in India:

A medical travel visa is issued by the Government of India. You can apply for the same through your country. The visa that is given to a patient can be extended upto 1 year. During the visa year the patient can travel to India 3 times. All these times the patients have the right to be accompanied by a family member/relative or friend. Prior information of the person who shall be escorting/accompanying the patient is also necessary.

  1. Please ensure that the hospital that has been recommended or chosen by you has the necessary licensing
  2. One has to ensure that the hospital has basic quality accreditations like NABH (quality standard recognized in India and granted by the Quality Council of India) and Joint Commission International (JCI), an international quality standard that ensures that the medical facility is recognized by international authorities for processes, medical assistance and clinical processes.
  3. Then one has to be sure about the doctor that has been recommended for the treatment. The doctor credentials, license, expertise, achievements are essential for a medical tourist. We at Pulse Med India provide you a detailed resume of the recommended doctor.
  4. A realistic expectation and proposed estimation of the treatment is essential. It is advised that one should at least compare two hospitals and choose as per their budget or the treating doctor credentials. This is essential as it provides you a clear idea of the expense that you may have to bear.
  5. Ensure that before you have been taken into surgery the doctor performs a preliminary examination on you. The doctor will make you go through few necessary tests and reexamine you. Your first visit may include the same. Post the examination the doctor decides that whether you are fit to go through surgery or not.   6. Make sure that you carry all your reports, passports and other important documents. Earlier reports, scans, doctors comments all are essential and hence should be carried along. You also have to be sure that the same are kept safe.
